My swan tray already had a paperweight, but these two made me smile, so they came home with me. Created by John Gooderham. Gold foil swans. Happy Birthday, WBA! September 16, 2024, was our launch date, and it's hard to believe it's been a year already. We still have so many things on our "to-do" list, so stay with us. Write an article, write an encyclopedia entry, share pictures, shop in the Marketplace, and participate in the creative activities. You can help WBA grow right from the comfort of your living room. Speaking of lists, does anyone go to a show armed with a "to buy" list? Working off a list reminds me of that saying, "If you want the universe to laugh, tell it you've made plans," because the day you go looking for peacock eye buttons is the day you find the fan buttons you were searching for the last time. And yet, I persist in creating a list. It helps keep me on track from repeatedly buying the same button. Unfortunately, it cannot stop impulse buying, and that's how duplicates keep appearing. What about you? Are there buttons you've been searching for a long time? Maybe we need to start a group wish list and see what we can find. Most of my trouble comes because, intentionally or not, I'm constantly upgrading trays, and that is never-ending. Really, how many swans does one need? When is enough black glass enough? I do know, though, with moonglows one can never have enough. As I've met so many new people through WBA and listened to them, I'm amazed at how limited my scope of collecting has been. Until Angela & Barry Corbett's presentation, I was unaware Pilkingtons existed. A while ago, Simone Kincaid showed there's more to windmills than blades that go around. There are many different types of windmills, and that sent me off looking at those buttons differently and searching for examples. Jocelyn Howells keeps educating on the various forms of polymers. Not sure I'll ever get good at identifying some of them, but I have moved past Bakelite and Lucite being the only two I can recognize. So many new exciting areas of buttoning open up with each new presentation. My list is getting bigger all the time. Happy Buttoning, Debbie WEBSITE UPDATES PROGRAM RECORDINGS:
