Hello Fellow Buttoners! The first thing on my mind today is my wishlist. The first item on my wishlist is getting YOU involved in WBA. The founders have laid down the beginnings of the organization and in our second month, we are thrilled at the response and attendance received so far, but in order to make WBA grow and thrive, it needs YOU. Your participation can come in the form of submitting an encyclopedia entry or submitting photos to the World Button Gallery. If you do research and like to write articles, please, submit them; we like to read. If you're a dealer or just have buttons to sell, consider having a link to your page put on the Member Marketplace. It's a free service for our members. I know I visit there often. Perhaps you could lead a workshop/study group. This could be a one time offering or a regular scheduled monthly gathering. Chinas, rubber buttons, black glass, 18th century, any topic that thrills you, you'll find others interested in learning about as well. Buttoners are always eager to learn more. Whatever the level of participation you decide upon, we're happy to see you at the regular monthly programs. Keep coming and be sure to tell your friends about WBA! HERE'S WHAT'S NEW Very exciting! Joy Journeay will host a hands-on creative workshop on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month. Bring your supplies, your imagination, share your ideas, and get CREATIVE. Work on your project while visiting with others. WBA is proud to present our first Digital Journal article shared by one of our members! Jocelyn Howells has penned and illustrated an article on the award-winning ceramist Ken Edwards who produced stoneware in Tonalá, Mexico for over sixty years. And ... our second Digital Journal article is also ready for you to read. Written by WBA member Debbie Campbell, "The Return of Matilda's Buttons" is the story of six jeweler-created buttons with daguerreotype images taken of the Trost family in Indianapolis, Indiana. Read to follow the years long journey of those buttons. FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM Please visit our Facebook and Instagram pages and give us a "like." The more likes we receive, the more people we are able to reach. Let us hear from you. What would you like to see WBA do next? Until next time, Debbie President, WBA Click here to email me.
