THOUGHTS FROM DEBbie

6/20/2025

PictureBicentennial Jaspwerware by Stella Rzanski depicting various events such as the Gold Rush, Gettysburg Address and the Moon Landing.
The Fourth of July. A very American holiday. The day we honor our freedom from tyranny. The day we honor being able to just be who we are. It's been a wild ride, hasn't it? These last 249 years, yet we are still such a young country compared to others around the world.

Of course, we are not the only country to have a holiday to celebrate independence. In Canada, July 1, is the anniversary date of their formation as a federal dominion in 1867. The French celebrate Bastille Day on July 14. Australia Day celebrates Australia's fascinating history on January 26. All are as proud of their country as we are of ours.

Perhaps nothing else depicted on buttons shows US history better and all in one place than this commemorative tray of jasperware buttons by Stella  Rzanski. Each button image is clear, beautifully done, and depicts one important event in the shaping of our country.

So Americans, and guests, enjoy the weekend of barbecue, friends, family, and fireworks this Fourth of July.

Happy Independence Day, whenever you celebrate it.
Debbie
